1.7 million units in Q3

Asus has managed to ship some 700,000 Eee PCs this September. This is a new monthly record for the Eee and total Q3 shipments seem to stand at around 1,7 million units. Similar volumes are expected in Q4, as well.

Asus has several Eee PC netbook SKUs to offer, ranging from the sub-€200 E701, the granddaddy of the entire series, to €400+ 10-inch models and pricey and stylish S101, which has yet to hit retail.

The popularity of these devices allows Asus to keep Eee PC gross margins rather high and analysts believe they're in the 15-20% region. However, more vendors are entering the netbook market and Asus will probably be forced to cut its margins to cope with the competition.
