At least for a bit

The bloke
who hacked into the U.S. defense networks in a bid to find UFOs has managed to get the E.U. court of Human Rights to temporarily stay his extradition to the Land of the Free.

Gary McKinnon is to face computer abuse and cyber-terrorism charges in the U.S. and is terrified of getting a long stretch in an American jail.   Now, the Court of Human Rights has decided that he can stay in the U.K, until it reconvenes to again consider his appeal on August 28.

The Law Lords denied McKinnon's final U.K. appeal on July 30. The U.S. has made it fairly clear that they are deeply embarrassed by the McKinnon hack and want him tried as a terrorist and locked up for 60 years.

A while back they offered him a deal of doing five years inside if he pleaded guilty.
