Keep on rocking in the open-source world

IBM is collaborating with Canonical/Ubuntu, Novell and Red Hat, the three major Linux distributors, to develop a Windows-free computing world by 2009.

Apparently, these four are developing a PC that will be preloaded with Linux, IBM's Open Collaboration Client Solution (OCCS), Lotus Notes, Symphony and Sametime.

This move was caused by slow adoption of Vista among businesses and the success of Microsoft-free PCs in all regions.

Well, although we’d have a mouthful to say about Vista and what Microsoft can do with it, we’d rather salute this move and silently pray that we actually see this project realized. Silently pray? Well, we wouldn’t want to jinx it, would we?

More here.
