Tech leaker evleaks quits

by on04 August 2014

Evan Blass has had enough

Samsung, LG, HTC, Motorola and Nokia have breathed a collective sigh of relief as the serial leaker of pictures of their products has given up.

Evan Blass is a former journalist who made a career out of posting images of tech products long before they are announced. Better known by the handle Evleaks, Blass showed the world the Samsung Galaxy S5, HTC One M8, LG G3 and various Nokia Lumia handsets.

Blass told The Next Web that he is retiring from the leaking game because he found it difficult to make any money on it. He was relying on donations and struggling to turn sponsored tweets into revenue. Blass will keep his Twitter handle running as a personal account, but the future of his website is uncertain at this stage.

It was odd that he could not find advertising for his paid twitter feed which has 187,000 followers at the time of writing. Perhaps the firms who have had their gear leaked were refusing to support the concept.
