€355 for Linux, €390 for XP

Yesterday
we wrote about Acer's decision to drop the sales forecast for its Aspire One netbook. The reduction was brought about by the Atom shortage, which delayed availability of all Atom based netbooks.

Acer is still the only vendor to actually have Atom netbooks in stock on the European market and things got a bit better for them yesterday. So far, they were only offering the Aspire One 110 with 8GB of SSD storage. While this is quite a nice machine, 8GB of storage won't cut it for many consumers. Luckily, the Aspire One 150 has hit the shelves yesterday and with a 120GB hard drive and a great price it will no doubt raise a few eyebrows at MSI and Asus.

In the netbook arena only Gigabyte's M912 offers more storage, 160GB to be exact, but Acer's 150 series ends up much cheaper. It costs €355 with Linux, or €390 with XP. Sounds like a fair price, especially for the Linux version. Considering it's the only Atom on the market, Acer probably won't change the prices anytime soon.

MSI's Wind is still nowhere to be found and retailer expect to get some in the next week or so, but don't hold your breath, as we're not sure about the volume. Gigabyte's M912 looks even worse, as retailers expect to have them in early Q4, two to three months from now.
