Search engine also ran, Ask.com has decided that the only way to beat Google, Yahoo, and MSN is to buy up the English language. According to CNet, Ask.com has bought Lexico Publishing Group, which owns Dictionary.com, Thesaurus.com, and Reference.com.

Its three sites, Dictionary.com, Thesaurus.com, and Reference.com had more than 28 million unique visitors in March. Ask.com said the acquisition would increase its unique monthly users by 11 percent to 145 million.
