Lighter, thinner and coming in October

In addition to the Playstation Vita TV that will bring gaming and media content to your favorite TV for US $100, during its latest event Sony also announced the new and updated Sony Playstation Vita hand-held console, the PCH-2000. The new PS Vita console will be thinner, lighter and even feature extended battery life when compared to the older version. It hits Japan on October 10th for 18,980 yen (around US $190).

While it did not detail when will the new PS Vita hit the rest of the world, Sony was quite proud to announce that the new Playstation Vita PCH-2000 is around 15 percent lighter as well as 20 percent thinner than the previous one as well as offers additional hour of life on its battery, adding to a total of up to six hours.

The rest of the updates include a change of the panel from OLED to "all-new" LCD as well as micro-USB charger port, 1GB of onboard storage and a couple of new color options, including white, black, blue, yellow, pink, and olive green. The announcement of the new PS Vita is not a big surprise considering the recent price-drop of the original PS Vita in both the US and Europe.
