by on16 August 2013

Should arrive before the end of the year

Sony is planning to launch an online streaming paid TV service before the end of the year according to Wall Street Journal. While this has been rumored for some time, only recently was it revealed that Sony has got a deal done with Viacom to carry its cable channels as part of its streaming channel offerings.

The Sony service will steam both on demand programming as well cable channel programming as well. The service is said to offer a guide that will include recommended programming feature that is based on the viewer’s watching habits.

The streaming service will be available on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Sony’s HD TV offerings. While the company renewed the trademark “PlayStationTV” it is likely that the new service will not be branded as such.
