No copyright theft

The U.K. Court of Appeal Criminal Division has ruled that modchips do not circumvent copyright protection.

Judge Justice Jacobs granted the appeal based on the argument that the copyright infringement had already taken place before the use of a modchip. The ruling has resulted in the quashing of all 26 counts against MrModchips. MrModchips was awarded full costs as a result of his successful appeal, and offered his thanks to his legal team and his many well wishers. He said that his was a fight for justice in the face of what are now no more than corporate public bullies.

It now looks like the U.K. will be able to start selling Modchips again, after what had been a hold on the industry when MrModchips was found guilty.
