September 2nd will be the release date

More details regarding the Transformers release on Blu-ray have now come to light with a more official announcement from Paramount/DreamWorks. Paramount’s number one DVD release of 2007 will be released on September 2nd on Blu-ray.

This will be Paramount’s first release to use the BD Live technology, which is similar in abilities to the HDi technology that was found on the HD DVD version of the Transformers release.

The Blu-ray version of Transformers will be a two-disc set just like the HD DVD release.

Disc one will offer the feature film with commentary by Director Michael Bay. This disc will include the Transformers H.U.D. mode, which will allow access to running test-based behind-the-scenes background information on the production of the movie. In addition, the user will be able to access picture-in-picture b-roll video with commentary during select sequences during the movie if the user so chooses. The audio will be presented in Dolby True HD.

The second disc will be divided into the “Our World” and “Their War” sections that will include a variety of special features. Some of the special feature segments include: The Story Sparks, Human Allies, I Fight Giant Robots, Battleground, Rise of the Robots, Autobots Roll Out, Decepticons Strike, Inside the AllSpark, Transformers tech inspector, script to sand, early sketch concepts, and the Theatrical Trailers.

HD DVD fans will notice that most everything on the Blu-ray version isn’t much different from what was included on the HD DVD release. Blu-ray fans, on the other hand, should be delighted that they will be getting everything that was on the HD DVD release of the film.
