Not much to tell, but they have a prototype

The mini notebook craze has not gone unnoticed by Dell. Michael Dell was carrying a new mini laptop that was noticed by eager journalist, Brian Lam, when he bumped into Michael Dell during the All Things D conference.

According to Lam, Dell would not shed any real light on the configuration of the mini laptop, which has become known today as the Mini Inspiron. What we do know is that it is a mini laptop similar to the Asus Eee PC or the HP 2133.

From the pictures we can see the USB ports, card reader, VGA out and Ethernet. Some analysts speculate that it might be powered by the recently announced Intel Atom CPU.

Dell would not shed any light on what OS it was running or in what neighborhood the pricing might be. Beyond the pictures of this pretty red mini notebook on Gizmodo, and the recently released pictures on the Dell blog, not much else is known. We don’t even have a clue as to when we can expect them to release it or if this is just a prototype that they are looking at for possible future release.
