40-inch not worth the effort

LCD
panel makers are starting to wonder if it was such a good idea to increase the size of their televisions.

According to Reuters, LCD makers thought shoppers would snap up the biggest flat TVs as prices came down, but are finding that it's the smaller models that are moving faster off the shelves. In emerging economies consumers seem to be interested in 32-inches or smaller, and TV-viewing PC monitors to replace cathode-ray sets. Meanwhile, the U.S. market, which is where the bigger sets might have ended up, has been harmed by the economic slow down.

Now, makers with strength in small screens, such as Taiwan's AU Optronics and those with a focus in the Chinese market ,such as LG, are doing really well.
