Telecom slow down
Telecommunications hardware manufacturer Avaya has slashed 400 more jobs.
The cuts come on top of layoffs, attrition and retirements that eliminated another 600 positions this year. The representative for the company said that most of the new cuts will be from Avaya's headquarters in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.
Avaya was spun off by Lucent Technologies in 2000 with 34,000 workers. Since then, it has been permanently restructuring and has lost half its workers.
It is owned by two private equity groups who bought it last year for $8.2 billion.
