TSMC is rumoured to be moving to another undemocratic debit-ridden country controlled by corporate interests and where politicians are sock puppets of a rich oligarchy.

Word on the street is that the company, is behind a mysterious "Project Azalea”  which is being run in the former British colony of the Americas. Azalea was a code name given to the project by Deloitte which is conducting a site search in New York State. It has not said which company it is site searching for, but now it appears to be TSMC.

The multibillion-dollar project would involve 3.2 million square feet of construction and employ at least 1,000 people. According to confidential documents obtained by The Business Review Deloitte has looked around the Luther Forest Technology Campus, in Saratoga County, and a 430-acre site called the Marcy Nanocenter, on the campus of SUNYIT, in Utica.

One of those keen to get the plant in his his state is US Representative Bill Owens. Last year he flew flew to Taiwan, where he pitched upstate to the chief financial officer of TSMC.
