Available for pre-order

U.K.-based
e-tailer expansys has jumped the gun and listed MSI's Wind netbook on its site. Of course, it's not available yet, but you can pre-order it.

The site is currently listing 6 different SKUs: black, white, pink with Linux or XP Home. The XP version is listed at £349, while the Linux version costs £319. In terms of hardware, all six SKUs are identical: 1.6GHz Atom, 945GMS+ ICH7-M, 1GB of RAM, a 2.5-inch 80GB hard drive, Bluetooth, WLAN, 3-cell battery, 1.3Mpix webcam. There's no 8.9-inch version yet, and currently only the version with the 10-inch 1024x600 LED backlit screen is listed. Oh yes, you'll also get a protective bag with your Wind.

Be warned, the price seems a bit off, we're still expecting the Wind to end up a bit cheaper, depending on the market. By today's exchange rate, the British Wind with XP costs €438/$677, while the Linux version will set you back €402/$622. No need to worry, the Brits always get the worst prices in Europe, and you can probably expect the XP Wind to retail at around €400 on the continent.

The Asus Eee 900 is also listed at €399 in both the Linux and the XP version. However, bear in mind that the Eee 900 ships with a 9-inch screen, has 12 or 20GB of flash storage and it's powered by a 900MHz Celeron. All things considered, the Wind looks like a pretty good deal and it might force Asus to drop its prices.
