Keeps the same price

The "best gift for your favorite nerd," also known as the Raspberry Pi, has received an update and will be now sold with 512MB of RAM.

Despite the double amount of RAM on the so called Model B, the Raspberry Pi Foundation decided to keep the price at US $35. According to a recent blog update, Even Upton noted that the most common suggestion for the new more expensive "Model C" was more RAM, and added that "This would be useful for people who want to use the Pi as a general-purpose computer, with multiple large applications running concurrently.".

The new Raspberry Pi boards with more RAM will need an updated firmware to take advantage of the memory increase. In case you missed it, Raspberry Pi recently got another firmware update that pushes the board to run at 1GHz, as opposed to  700MHz.
