AMD blog hacked, taken down

by on21 August 2012

Usernames and encrypted passwords stolen

A hacking syndicate has apparently managed to hack AMD’s corporate blog, forcing the company to take it down and change all the passwords.

The group, calling itself r00tbeer, claimed responsibility for the hack. Hackers managed to steal a database containing information on AMD staff and they also took the liberty of defacing the site, Eweek reports.

AMD confirmed the attack, which was apparently carried out on August 19. It seems the database included about 190 internal accounts.

Sophos claims the attack was relatively small, but it is still a cause for concern.
