Three new parts

Intel plans to launch three new mobile CPUs, all based on 45nm Penryn dual-core and it plans to launch them in June. The slowest of them all is branded Core 2 Duo P8400, and it works at 2.26GHz with FSB  1066 and 3MB cache. If you buy 1,000 pieces it will cost $197 at launch.

The second in line is 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo P8600 with the same FSB 1066 and 3MB of cache that will cost $236.

The fastest of them all is Core 2 Duo P9500 at 2.53GHz with 6MB cache FSB 1066 that should cost $340 at launch. If you believe that the names of mobile Core 2 Duo's were confusing just wait for June.

Intel will have two P9500s, where the one scheduled for June has 6MB cache and 2.53 GHz clock and works with FSB 1066. The June P9500 will find its place in Montevina platforms.  The second one, also branded Core 2 Duo P9500, is the part of Santa Rosa refresh platform and is clocked to 2.6GHz, has 6MB of cache, but works with FSB800. This one should be available today.

What a mess; and one can easily say that Intel doesn’t want you to know what CPU are you getting in your notebook.
