Silently avoids anti-trust issues

Apple
has tweaked its online Windows update tool, following allegations that the firm was using it to sneak its lackluster Safari browser onto PCs.

Automatic Update 2.1 utility now includes a box labeled 'New Software,' and a separate box for relevant software updates. Last month Apple's included its Safari browser for Windows along with a QuickTime and iTunes security update.

The situation created by the latest release has made it easier for customers to identify between software updates and new applications. Of course, it still is clear that Apple has not got the hang of not telling its users what to do. Although it is possible not to install Safari, it is checked by default.
