Microsoft issued its standard Security Advisory in advance of the upcoming patches slated for release on Tuesday, April 8th. Of the eight patches to be released, five of them are ranked as “critical” and three of them are ranked as “important.”

Of the five critical patches to be released on the 8th of April, one of them is targeted at Microsoft Office, two of them are targeted at Internet Explorer, and two of them are targeted at Windows itself. Of course, all five of them address issues that could allow “remote code execution,” which as most of us know by now is never a good thing.

The three issues that are classified as “important” deal with a potential spoofing issue, an elevation of privilege issue, and a possible Microsoft Office remote code execution issue.

As always, you can use the latest version of the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer tool to detect if your system needs any of these updates or not. You can also use Microsoft Windows update to scan your system and apply the updates the same as you have always done. Another Tuesday will pass with eight more patches to apply.
