But not for EVO users just yet

On Wednesday, HTC revealed that it is preparing to release tasty Google Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates for a whopping sixteen (16) of its smartphones. Nevertheless, this is a sign that company is continuing to work with wireless carriers in each country to “nail down update schedules for other smartphones and will have more to share very soon.”

Among the list of smartphone candidates to receive Android 4.0 include the DROID Incredible 2, Amaze 4G, Desire S, Desire HD, EVO 3D, EVO Design 4G, Incredible S, Sensation, Sensation XL, Sensation 4G, Sensation XE, Raider, Rezound, Rhyme, Thunderbolt and Vivid.

HTC has stated that its engineers are in the early stages of rolling out Android 4.0 for the Sensation and Sensation XE, with the upgrade becoming more widely available within the next few weeks. Meanwhile, Android 4.0 updates for the Sensation 4G and Sensation XL will follow shortly.

Unfortunately, the company makes no mention of Android 4.0 updates for the EVO 3D or the EVO 4G, both highly popular HTC smartphones that users have continuously modified using custom Android ROMs found on a variety of Android communities. We look forward to hearing an official response from the company regarding these EVO devices as well as other HTC smartphones that remain unannounced for the Android 4.0 update rollout.
