Popular search engine, Torrentspy, has finally shut its doors, following a long and costly legal struggle.

The Torrentspy team claims it has decided to close down the site on their own, not due to a court order or agreement. They are citing the U.S. legal climate for copyright, privacy and links to torrent files as too hostile, claiming they have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars defending their rights and the rights of their users.

Sad news, but we all knew what was going to happen to it eventually, it was just a matter of time.
