Design fault

Redfaced Apple
has had to release a patch for the MacBook Air because the super thin laptop has overheating problems.

The update fine tunes the speed and operation of the internal fan; however, some users claim that the fix is just a placebo and it fails to cover up for a fundamental design flaw. The problem appears to be an underperforming fan that causes the MacBook Air to overheat and eventually lock up. Apple users in places where it is a bit warmer suffer the most.

According to various Apple discussion boards the MacBook Air locks up when performing system-intensive tasks such as watching videos or video chats. A few users who have installed the patch are finding that it makes no difference to the problem.
