Dual-core is for desktops

We learned that all upcoming notebooks based on Diamondville should end up with a single-core Diamondville CPU, branded simply as Atom.

We believe that Centrino Atom will be the name for the whole sub notebook platform based on this new 45nm chip. The notebook chip will dissipate only 4W, while the dual-core might do 8W or more; but our sources were clear that Intel won’t let people put a dual-core in sub notebook.

The dual core 45nm Atom will remain a feature for ultra low power desktops, but you never know, maybe there will be someone to put a dual-core in sub notebook.
