Windows Phone 7 now boasts 30,000 apps

It appears Windows Phone 7 app development is picking up, but Microsoft still has a long way to go before it comes close to Apple’s App Store or Android Market.

The total number of available apps for WP7 passed 30,000 a few days back. However, Apple boasts 425,000 apps, while Google has about 250,000.

Windows Phone 7 had quite a number teething problems and very few vendors, or consumers for that matter, chose to embrace it. Redmond believes (hopes) that its partnership with Nokia and the introduction of the Mango update will help it gain a bit more traction.

The first Nokia handsets based on Microsoft’s OS are expected to launch within a few weeks.
