Drinks the ultrabook Kool-Aid instead
Acer chairman JT Wang believes the tablet fever is already starting to cool down and consumers are turning back to notebooks. Sadly, Acer seems to be one of the hardest hit companies in the tablet flop, but at least now there is a chance it will go back to its roots.

Ultrabooks and Windows 8 are expected to attract consumers back to more traditional platforms and Acer is one of the first vendors to embrace Intel’s ultrabook initiative. Much has been said about high ultrabook prices and the need to come up with cheaper, sub-$1,000 designs. Acers seems to have pulled it off and Wang is promising ultrabooks priced as low as $799 in September.

Other vendors are expected to announce their first ultrabooks in Q4 and judging by Acer’s pricing, we will see some more gear in the triple digit price range.
