Facebook pledges to clean up its act

Polar bears rejoice
Social network Facebook has issued a statement following a scathing report by environmental group Greenpeace on the environmental impact of its data centers.

Facebook announced that it will take Greenpeace’s advice and make share more information about its data centers. In addition, Facebook said that it would review its carbon footprint and take up an offer by Greenpeace to supply expert advice on the matter.

So, Facebook will try to source more energy for its data centers from renewable sources, which means there will be less of it left in the power grid. In the end Facebook users will just end up using more fossil fuel energy in their homes instead. This makes sense.
