Word on the street is that Nintendo is about to slash the Nintendo DSi from its product list.

The DSi was released in Japan in the middle of 2008 and was the first Nintendo's handheld to use a low-res camera. While it did very well for itself, according to Nintendo fans in the Land of the Rising Sun you can't buy one for love or money. One Japanese retailer said that it was out of production and the only DSi consoles are those in inventory, and there are supposedly areas where it is sold out.

Nintendo appears to be keeping the DSiXL in production. It seems that with the Nintendo 3DS hitting the shops soon, Nintendo does not want consumer confusion between the similarly-sized handhelds. Of course the DSi could just be out of date.
