Quanta ups 2008 production numbers

Notebook demand rising beyond original expectations


Taiwanese
manufacturer, Quanta Computer, Inc., has increased its shipment target for notebook computers for 2008 by 11 percent.  Quanta says the increase is due to users changing from non-portable desktop computers to laptops that are easily portable.  According to Quanta, the expectation for 2008 is now at shipping 40 million notebook PCs, up from its previous prediction of 36 million for 2008.

Quanta is an OEM for several major U.S. computer suppliers, including Dell, Inc. Hewlett-Packard Company and Apple, Inc.
