Allies no longer
Fruity messiah Steve Jobs used his Q3 earnings call to have a rant at his old business ally Google. He said that many Android OEMs install proprietary user-interfaces to differentiate themselves from the commodity Android experience but it's up to the poor user to figure it all out.

He said this should be compared to the iPhone where every handset works the same. Of course he didn't mention that the iPhone 4 often does not work at all.

However he then went on to rant "We think the open vs closed is just a smokescreen to try and hide the real issue, which is: What's best for the customer? Fragmented vs. integrated. We think Android is very very fragmented and becoming more fragmented by the day." He went on saying "we believe integrated will trump fragmented every time."

This is very strange as Apple has always own goaled itself by being so closed that it makes Microsoft look like Richard Stallman's love child.  In the 1980s Apple lost the PC market to Microsoft because it refused to licence its technology to others.
