Amazon thinks $149 will be the price

Go ahead and slide Amazon over into the column of retailers that think Kinect will launch at a $149 price point. The Internet retailer is accepting pre-orders for Kinect at the $149 price, joining other retailers that also seem to be set on that number.

Despite Microsoft insisting that the pricing for the Kinect has yet to be set, a number of retailers tell us that they believe that at least initially Kinect will launch at $149 USD. We have spoken to a number of smaller independent gaming retailers who tell us that they don’t have a clue what the pricing will be beyond speculation and rumors.

Still, the speculation on the pricing is hurting the perception of the product. From the whispers we are hearing Microsoft is aware of it, but at this point does not seem to be concerned. Perhaps if the talk does not die down soon, they will have to change their mind and announce some sort of pricing. We doubt that this will happen, however, as we expect Microsoft to not announce the official pricing till we get closer to the actual release of Kinect.
