Portuguese beat Redmond
The company that registered the name Microsoft in Portugal nine years before Redmond has decided to sell the name for a million dollars.
Microsoft registered the name in 1981 long before Redmond had the idea. As a result it is the only company that can use the name Microsoft in Portugal. The U.S. company is known in Portugal as MSFT.
The Portuguese company was in negotiations with Redmond over buying the name but it never heard back. Now the plan is to sell the name on Ebay.
