The notebook to have for Warcraft fans

Dell
will try to tap into the World of Warcraft market with the announcement of a special XPS M1730 that is targeted at the over 9 million fans playing the popular game. Because the model comes from Dell’s XPS line, you can expect this to be no ordinary laptop, and it isn’t.

The system features the Intel Core 2 Extreme X7900 CPU at 2.8GHz, 2GB of DDR-667 RAM, two 200GB hard drives that are striped in a RAID 0 to yield 400GB, two NVidia 8700M GT GPUs in a mobile SLI configuration with 512MB of RAM each, a Physics 100M processor from Ageia, Intergraded Creative Labs Audigy software stack for HD audio, 802.11 a/g/n Wireless from Intel, Gigabit wired Ethernet, and to slow it all down, Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition.

Weighing in it a hefty 12 pounds, this will not be a notebook that you will want to run through an airport with, but if you want the ultimate portable gaming rig to play on the road, the XPS M1730 WOW edition can deliver. Each WOW edition laptop will come in special WOW packaging. The outer shell of the laptop will be able to be customized by the player, depending on their preference for either the Alliance or the Horde. Of course, the XPS M1730 offers a full size keyboard with a keypad which can be done because of the 17-inch LCD screen.

All of this and some additional World of Warcraft extras for close to US$5,000. Dell will start taking orders December 11th, so get your credit cards ready.
