Blackberry users went dark on Monday as RIM experienced what is being politely called an outage. The issues and outage started around 6 P.M. E.S.T. and lasted several hours, but it appears that all issues are resolved now. This is the third such outage that RIM has experienced with its Blackberry service that caused mail disruption. Of course, those Blackberry users that are connected to E-mail via Blackberry Enterprise Server were not affected.

RIM’s official statement on the outage is that during the evening on Monday users may have experienced a delay in receiving and sending E-mail. Web browsing, Instant Messaging, text messaging, PIN, and phone services were not affected during this outage. RIM assures customers that no mail was lost during this outage, and they continue to investigate what the root cause of the issue is.
