Finnish Standards Association expert kicked out

The Finnish Standards Association has suddenly terminated the contract of Lassi Nirhamo, the new expert of the IT standardisation team. Lassi Nirhamo spoke against the Microsoft OOXML standard when it came up before the Finnish Standards Association.

The CEO of the Finnish Standards Association, Pekka Järvinen said that the reason for ending the contract is lack of trust. "Unfortunately, during the probation period, issues came up, after which trust is not possible. I cannot comment further than this." Järvinen told AP.

Nirhamo was not told the reason but he lead the OOXML- meeting in Finland, where the meeting decided to back the standard. He told the meeting he was against he standard and later suggest that Finland should abstain from voting.
