Videos are
becoming the best way for spammers and malware writers to deliver their code
according to a report on Internet threats released by the Georgia Tech
Information Security Center.
Chris Rouland, the chief technology officer
for IBM Internet Security Systems unit who helped draft the report said that
as companies have gotten better blocking e-mails, scammers were moving to
more creative techniques. Embedding them in images or disguised as
Portable Document Format, or PDF, files has been stage one, but the next
phase will be media players, he said.
There have only been a few
cases of video-related hacking so far.
