Intel Charged in South Korea

Chipmaker Intel has been charged with violating South Korean antitrust laws, the company and regulators have confirmed.

After a two year investigation, the Korean Fair Trade Commission has recommended that Intel is charged.No one is providing any details, yesterday it seemed that Intel had escaped with nothing more than a warning.

According to Associated Press, South Korean regulators are now deliberating about possible penalties against Intel.Chuck Mulloy, legal affairs spokesman for Intel in Santa Clara, confirmed that the company received a preliminary set of charges.

Intel has the right to respond to the findings, request a hearing and, if it remains unsatisfied, take the issue to court in South Korea, he said.
