VMware has released a thin hypervisor that means that
virtualisation environments can be integrated in server hardware from major
computer makers.
The ESX Server 3i will run on Dell, Fujitsu, Fujitsu
Siemens Computers, HP, IBM, NEC, servers with others expected to sign up at
the end of this year and through 2008.
VMware says that the
technology available for download through its Web site.
If hardware
vendors integrating ESX Server 3i, they can build a virtualisation-enabled
server that can be booted directly into a fully functioning hypervisor and
provide the services needed to run multiple virtual machines.
