South Korea has shut down its two-year probe into Intel
Corp.'s activities in the country.
According to Associated Press,
South Korean media have reported the inquiry centred on allegations Intel,
abused its market dominance by pressuring computer makers to avoid using
chips made by its rivals.
A commission official told Associated Press
that it had done all the investigating it needed and the results have
recently been presented to the decision-making committee to discuss possible
sanctions.
It seems that the commission decided to take no action other
than give Intel a formal warning"statement of objection".
However
Intel still said that it will be responding to the findings, can request a
hearing.
An Intel spokesman said that it was hopeful that it could show
the Commission that the microprocessor market is functioning
normally.
