Overclockers.co.uk is the first site that has listed the Powercolor HD 4870 card with 1GB of memory.

The card is unfortunately not the PCS non-reference version which we wrote about before, but rather a plain reference cooled and clocked version. The card works at 750MHz for the core and comes with 1024MB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 3,600MHz. The card is currently available for pre-order and should be available on the 31st of July with a price tag set at £199.99 (£234.99 inc. VAT).

According to our sources, the non-reference PCS version of the HD 4870 with 1GB of memory should be available during the begining of August. You can find the reference cooled 1GB version listed here.

PowerColor is not the only AIB with a 1GB HD4870 up its sleeve and GeCube is also readying to launch a similar card. It too is reference clocked, 750/900MHz and the lowest price currently stands at €246. You can find the listing here and the retailers claim it should be available in 1-3 weeks.

It seems that not many vendors are keen to launch a 1GB versions of this card, as it ends up much pricier than a reference 512MB card, thanks to the high price of GDDR5 memory.
