Computex 08:  ATI's business

ATI will
launch its new X2 dual RV770 card roughly six weeks after it launches Radeon 4870 and 4850, RV770-based cards.

ATI plans to launch RV770XT and Pro in the last week of June, which roughly gives mid-to-end of August as a realistic date when you will see R700-based cards. The reason is simple: dual driver development is tough and ATI wants to polish it up as much as it can.

The name is still not decided and knowing ATI's new strategy it doesn't have to simply be Radeon HD 4870 X2, no matter how highly likely that is.

The card should be there just in time for back-to-school systems and, of course, it has two RV770 chips on a single PCB.
