Goes down the industrial route

TDK has launched its GBDisk RS1 range of  industrial SSD drives with SATA interface. TDK might not be the first brand you think of when it comes to storage drives, but TDK is involved  in the hard drive storage market.

TDK makes hard disk drive read/write heads and holds a wide range of patents, so moving into the SSD market makes sense, since this is the way things seem to be going.

The GBDisk RS1 comes in capacities of up to 16GB in 2.5-inch format. TDK claims that the GBDisk RS1 series is suitable for industrial usage due to the shock-resistant characteristics of SSD devices due to the lack of moving parts.

The GBDisk RS1 is in production and is set to start in June.
