Upgrade kit available

Apple and Nvidia have announced a new graphics kit for the first generation of Mac Pro systems. Users can now swap their old video card with Nvidia's Geforce 8800GT.

According to the press release this allows first generation Mac Pro allows users to optimize their Mac with the same card which is already available in second generation Mac Pro. This should get more graphics processing power for those professional applications usually used on Mac Pro systems.

North American users can get this upgrade kit from either Nvidia or the Apple Store for $279. Those outside the U.S. can order it from the Apple Store. Geforce 8800GT comes a bit late, six months after the PC version, but better late than never.

We guess that you can expect a Geforce 9800 GTX Mac edition by Xmas 2008.
