All is well

ATI’s R680
is on track to start shipping in the last week of January and samples should arrive in the hands of reviewers even earlier than that.

We don’t doubt for a second that AMD will showcase this interesting setup at CES which takes place in Lost Wages, Nevada between the 7th and 10th of January 2008, as it has already been shown in Warsaw, as we reported here.

The only thing that ATI is avidly waiting for now is the CrosfireX driver, as this is key to this card's success, and ATI's engineers are working hard to make the software to go along with this rather interesting card.

It is a tight schedule, but we hope for ATI’s sake that with the right driver the Radeon HD 3870 X2 can give the GeForce 8800 Ultra a run for its money. But then again, Nvidia also plans to announce the D8E, a dual G92 chip setup in a similar timeframe.
