MSI is
about to announce a 12-inch version of its popular Wind series netbook. However, as it's a 12-incher, and as it's powered by a CULV Celeron 723 rather than an Atom, it's really not a netbook, but a proper notebook.

Engadget Chinese scored some info on the upcoming thin and light Wind, and it will apparently feature a 1366x768 display, 2GB of memory, a 250GB hard drive, b/g/n wireless, all packed in a 1.4kg chassis. The only downside, it's got a 3-cell battery, at least for the time being.

MSI is expected to announce it tomorrow, and reveal the rest of the specs and the pricing. Engadget thinks it will cost about $700. HP's DV2, a stylish 12-incher based on AMD's Neo platform, sells for $699, so this sounds like a reasonable price, although MSI could surprise us with a somewhat lower price tag.

In Europe it will probably retail in the €550-€600 range. However, bear in mind that for less than €100 extra you'll be able to buy a 13.4-inch X340 based on the same CPU.
