€379 in Germany

We talked about Acer's new, slim Aspire One netbooks on a few occasions, and now the 531 is available in Europe.

The asking price is €379, and considering it's a thin and stylish piece of kit, this sounds pretty good, as an Asus Eee PC S101 will set you back €450. Still, it is €50 more than a similarly spec'd Aspire One D150, but many people, including us, will think it's well worth it.

The Aspire One 531 is powered by an 1.66GHz Atom N280 on a 667MHz bus, it has 1GB of memory and 160GB of storage. It measures 255 x 202 x 31mm, and weighs 1220g, so it's a bit thinner than most similarly priced netbooks, but it's not the lightest one around.

It's half way between a fashion item, such as the S101, and a regular netbook, and it looks like a good deal. In case your German is good, you can take a look at a pretty thorough review at notebookjournal.de, here. Overall, they liked it. However, like us, the notebookjournal crew thinks glossy screens simply shouldn't be used in netbooks, ever.

You can get it here.
