To retail at $749

Back in January Corsair finally jumped the SSD bandwagon with its 128GB MLC Samsung based SSD. The guys from HotHardware.com managed to get a sneak peak of Corsair's upcoming 256GB SSD which will also use Samsung's controller and MLC NAND flash chips.

According to the initial HD Tach tests, the new SSD, dubbed P256, will offer read and write speeds of up to 209,8MB/s and 169,1MB/s, along with a 0.1ms random access time, as well as an impressive 248,2 MB/s burst speed.

HotHardware also had a chance to see the insides of the new drive, and according to those pictures, the new SSD uses Samsung's S3C29RBB01-YK40 controller and has 64MB of cache memory.

The drive will become available sometime later this quarter, with a pretty high price tag of US $749.
