11.6 and 12.1-inch models

According to Chinese newspaper reports, Lenovo is planning to use Nvidia's Ion platform for upcoming 11.6 and 12.1-inch netbooks.

The big netbooks are expected to launch in Q2, and they will be built by Wistron. According to the same report, Lenovo will launcch a VIA based 12.1-inch netbook as well, and it is also looking into 13-inch Ion models.

Intel still officially prohibits the use of its Atom netbook platform on machines using panels in excess of 10 inches. However, in recent months many vendors have announced 12 and 13-inch units, mostly based on Z-series Atoms with the US15W chipset.

Some vendors, such as HP and Samsung, went for AMD and VIA on their 12.1-inch models instead.
