Someone's finally put an Atom to good use

QNAP
fiddled with Intel's Atom platform and came up with a rather interesting product, an Atom based high-end 4-bay NAS system.

The TS-439 Pro Turbo NAS features an N270 atom at 1.6GHz, 1GB of DDR2 and a multitude of advanced storage technologies. It supports RAID 0/ 1/ 5/ 6/ 5+Spare, JBOD, Online RAID Capacity Expansion, and Online RAID Level Migration.

It has a built-in iSCSI target service, AES 256-bit volume-based encryption, and, of course, the drives are hot-swappable. The TS-439 features an LCD and a simple UI which allows users to install and format drives, and setup a RAID field without a computer.

There's no word on price yet, but don't expect it to come cheap.

You can find the product page here.
