Ridiculous
FSC is know for its cheap, and often ghastly notebooks, and
the U9200 is no exception. At €399 the new U9200 SKU is very cheap, but
unfortunately it is also very, very ugly.
It's a 12.1-inch
notebook, powered by an Intel T2390 dual-core, it packs 2GB of memory
and a 120GB hard drive. Considering €399 is netbook money, all this
sounds very impressive, as you get a proper dual-core, enough memory
for Vista, and a 1280x800 non-glare screen.
At 1.8kg, it's
even not that heavy, although it still weighs more than Samsung's NC20,
Dell's Inspiron 12 or HP's DV2. However, it's still more than €100
cheaper than any of them, and it has more than enough muscle top with
the floor with them.
There's only one catch. It ships without an OS. Well, it ships with FreeDOS, but that's hardly a serious OS. If
you've got a Vista license to spare, or if you're a penguin lover, this
shouldn't be an issue.
The lowest list price currently stands at €374, but the lowest available price is €399, in Germany, here.
Unfortunately, although it's dirt cheap, and packs a fair bit of
muscle, we don't think that many people will get one, as it just looks
horrible.
